Michael McElyea:
The incarnation itself is the very wrath of God
The fiery love of God and his complete opposition to our destruction and against everything that is not of love
Not pouring his wrath out on Jesus but him assuming (taking upon himself) our distortions into himself and being crucified with them; destroying them in his broken body on the cross
The wrath of God is upon mindsets and notions not men and nations His wrath (orgè in Greek=passion) is to remove everything within that is not of loves kind. He objectively did this on the cross. For every person was crucified simultaneously with him (2 Corinthians 5:14)
And he took all of that (our brokenness, our pain, our evil that stems from it) within himself and broke its power as he put it to death and buried it with him. He also broke the illusion that caused all of it in the first place, the illusion of separation, that we were separate from God in the first place; which was the breeding ground for sin. Sin is an “entity” of the illusion of separation which has governed our minds, that we aren’t one with God, nor even of God in the core of our being….sin (separation and no inherent goodness) is what manifests every form of death
He then ROSE. As the full true human, a new (restored to original design) creation. You’re depressed self died with him. You’re angry self died with him. You’re lust filled self died with him. Your self that thought it was never enough because of being rejected, abandoned and betrayed died with him. The true you lives right now. When you gaze upon Christ you’re looking into a mirror (2 Corinthians 3:18). No more performance, no more facades, no more masks, no more living up to others expectations or trying to earn others love and approval. Just BE….the true you, which is Christ
The wrath/passion of God must be seen through the love of God. The Bible tells us we know what love is by gazing at our crucified, beaten, bloodied and murdered God on the cross (1 John 3:16) THIS God gave his life FOR you and I to heal us and to awaken us; not to save us from his torture chamber.
God doesn’t destroy people, nor does he inflict his wrath upon his own son either. The blood wasn’t FOR God, the blood was FROM God. Jesus didn’t save us from God, Jesus unveiled God as savior. He through his solidarity with humanity, joining himself to you through the person of Jesus; unveiling he’s at-one(d) with every person, from WITHIN his passion begins to go to work like a skilled surgeon.
Though thoroughly and objectively completed on the cross, sometimes it’s not easy for some to simply grasp it was an illusion (separation and not actually having God in them right now) past traumas and wounds and pains or guilt and Shame is hard to overcome
But when you KNOW deep within, that he is IN you and has ALWAYS been, you can allow that loving passion (translated wrath) INTO those places and join him there and let him lead you into the healing that is already yours.
On top of that, knowing you are fully at-one with God, and that his very presence ABIDES in you, it’s the most empowering truth there is.
Infinite love abides in you!
Infinite peace abides in you!
Infinite overcoming strength abides in you!
Infinite worth abides in you!
Infinite value abides in you!
Infinite patience abides in you!
Live FROM there!
You are the pearl of great price, the treasure hidden in the field.
Let the passion and wrath of God consume and destroy every single thing within you that’s not of love. Truth is he already did. We need to align our thoughts on this with his thoughts/truth so that his ways will be our ways because the divine seed is already in you awaiting to be awakened and sprout to life and grow into the tree of life filling you within and……BE
